Forge a Chisel: Dive into the Art of Tool Making
Join us at Clay and Steel for an immersive experience in tool making, where you’ll forge a chisel out of spring steel. Perfect for tool enthusiasts and anyone looking to delve into the science of blacksmithing, this class provides a deep understanding of heat treatment and its crucial role in bladesmithing and tool creation.
Get ready to work hard and stay focused—precision is key in this process, especially when it comes to controlling your heat. This class will challenge you, requiring careful attention to detail at every step.
Tool making is one of the most fundamental skills in blacksmithing, whether you’re interested in crafting axes or creating delicate, organic leaf work. This class is packed with valuable information on tools, tool steel, and the heat treatment process. While there’s plenty of lecture, you’ll also have the chance to put theory into practice by forging and heat treating your very own chisel.
Youth 14+ permitted with a parental safety waiver. In order to participate students need to join the California Blacksmith Association curriculum to be covered by CBA Insurance.
Details will follow after sign up.
