Bronze Seahorse Hook

$295.00

This handmade seahorse hook is made from solid bronze.

Forged in Richmond, CA by Celeste Flores, Artist Blacksmith. (Brass also available.)

I spent many years refining my process for sculpting this seahorse and I believe I’ve achieved a product that is both compelling as a sculptural object and charming. This seahorse is entirely hand forged, it is not cast. Its an excellent example of the kind of sculptural elements that can be crafted by a skilled blacksmith.

This can be used as hook for your garden or your purse. It is a completely unique compliment to any seaside home. Or it can be a fun and charming new feature. Because each seahorse is hand sculpted, each one is unique.

The bronze can be shined and left bare or there is the option of a patina. Patinas are chemical reactions on the surface of the metal and sealed with a coat of wax. Wax instead of lacquers because the wax does not discolor and chip over time and can easily be touched up. Bronze patinas are known as living finishes. The atmosphere subtly changes their appearance over time. In most environments bronze patinas remains very similar but the colors takes on a variability and depth that can only be accomplished with age. The “au natural” finish will have the greatest variability. The polished metal looks very much like copper but over the period of a few weeks it will take on a classic bronze hue

The Quality

There are no plastic parts in my bronze hardware.

Bronze can last a lifetime and longer. It doesn’t corrode or decay over time. Its composition is mostly copper alloyed with other Earth elements. It can be continually recycled. Bronze never needs to become waste and even maintains its intrinsic value as a material.

I’m so proud to create an item that is stylish, artistic and designed to last.
