10am - 4:00pm This is a First Time Blacksmithing Class

The railroad spike knife is an intense class that requires a powerful hammer blow. It’s a great class to take if you want to make a sharp pointing thing. If you want a class to be introduced to blacksmithing I recommend you take the hook class or the bronze bracelet class.

Teacher: Celeste Flores

Join us at Seaport Studios to create a decorative railroad spike knife. Students will learn safety plus basic blacksmithing techniques such as hammer control, tapering and beveling and twisting. You will have the opportunity to create a railroad spike knife that we will put an edge on.

Please wear all natural fibers such as cotton jeans, t-shirts, wool or leather. Wear closed toed shoes. Synthetic shoes such as sneakers, not advised. Synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, nylon and spandex melt and stick to skin when heated. Do not wear synthetic clothing when working with fire.
